Sean is a local Korean chef that recently won a cooking contest for Outback Steakhouse. As the winner he got to travel to Australia to do a commercial shoot in Australia with Daniel Henney. If you go to Outback, you’ll notice a poster with Sean and Daniel Henney. Besides being good-looking, Sean is the real deal. He can cook. For his winning dish he smoked a ribeye steak using indigenous wood that can only found on the mountains of Korea. Anyway, Sean and I are currently working on a series of cooking videos and cooking classes with O’ngo Food Communications. More details on that soon. I remember seeing this contest covered on cable tv. What a joke. They were sent to australia to come up with a new menu ideas for the restaurant, which is funny because outback is an american chain and there is nothing even remotely australian on their menu. I also thought it was funny that Henny accompanied him on this trip. I know he's supposed to be outback's spokesmodel and everything, but what can this young chef really learn culinary-wise from an model/actor? Henny was also one of the judges. He was among a panel of famous foodies and experienced chefs. When judging the two finalists he said "uh…both were really good" or something to that extent (real helpful).
How is the guy's english? I imagine the trip would've been kinda awkward for him.

Daniel Henney is the spokesperson for Outback and the whole show was a marketing ploy. Sean on the other hand is the real deal. He can cook, he's a kind and thoughtful person, and he can speak English. I hang out and talk with him all the time and his English is great. Oh, and the show also had Nick Flynn, chef from the Intercontinental Hotel, as a judge.

i don't doubt the guy can cook. he seemed to know his stuff on the show. I have nothing against him. I just thought the whole "win a trip to australia with daniel henney" as the grand prize for COOKING show was incredibly lame. every time i see promotional ads of him (henney) wearing that chef's hat and a shit-eating grin my eyes roll to the back of my skull.
I was fortunate enough to meet Shaun (I thought it was 'Shaun' coz that's what he signed in one of the souvenirs) when he came to Perth, Western Australia back in Feb. He speaks really good English by the way.
The prize wasn't just a trip. It was a treasure-hunting food exploration experience using ingredients they gathered during their travels. My friend was part of the crew and she had nothing but praises for them both, so do I.
Daniel, please tell Shaun I said hi and I hope he managed to make good use of the Perth eating guide. Sorry I couldn't meet him the second time around though. I really tried but it was so hard when there wasn't any mole in the team this time, hahaha! Nevertheless I hope he had a blast and I wish him well!
