Suji’s Corned Beef Reuben Sandwich

Suji’s Restaurant has been on top of the American Cuisine scene in Seoul. They do Brunch, they do Mexican, they do a great burger, and they do Deli meat. Forget the nasty processed Lotte Ham and Spam (I’d rather eat meat rather than processed ears and snouts).

Their restaurant makes all of their own corned beef, pastrami, turkey and ham. They even bake all of their bread on premises. It’s real homestyle food and it’s good. Oh, and those who say that Suji’s is too expensive, they dropped their prices by 30% from 1 year ago. It’s not that expensive and you get quality food.

Here’s the contest build and name your own sandwich. Add your entry in the comments section:
One 20,000 won Gift Certificate will be given to the best sandwich.
One 20,000 won Gift Certificate will be given to the most creative sandwich.
Suji’s Restaurant will judge the sandwiches

  5. James

I'm returning to NY before the contest ends but there hasn't been many entries so I will attempt one for fun (with what I will assume are reasonable metric measurements)

The "Hangover Corned Beef Hash" (open face sandwich)

2 slices of Rye bread (toasted)
    100g Suji's Corned Beef (chopped)
    100g Suji's Home Fries
    40~50g onion (diced)
    2 garlic cloves (minced)
    40~50g Saurkraut
    10g butter (unsalted)
    1 slice Swiss Cheese (optional)
    1 egg (poached or sunny-side)
    Russian dressing or grain mustard

    Directions:
-Over medium heat, cook onions and garlic in butter in a skillet until soft and caramelized
-Mix in saurkraut and corned beef
-Turn heat to high and mix in home fries (already cooked)
-Chop and stir vigourously until all ingredients are well incorporated
    -salt & pepper to taste
-leave corned beef hash on high heat until a crust forms on the bottom shaking occasionally to avoid burns(3~4 minutes)
-On a plate, arrange toast pieces next to each other (smeared with a little Russian dressing or grain mustard)
-Pile hot corned beef hash on toast so crusty side faces up
-place Swiss cheese slice on pile of corned beef hash
-top with sunny side egg (runny yolk is a must!)
    -garnish with nothing

Suji's is super expensive. Don't make excuses for them. Their business would increase if they would lower their prices.

  7. Daniel Gray

Have you been to Suji's lately? It's not that expensive. They dropped their prices. Their sandwiches start at 12,000, Pancakes and French Toast are 12,000, Eggs Benedict used to be 18,000 but is now 15,000. The prices are much cheaper than before.

Oh, and anonymous- why don't you register to leave your negative comments.

    turkey bagel sammy scooped

    - turkey
    - onion bagel
    - scallion cream cheese
    - 1 thick sliced tomato
    - alfalfa sprouts
    - thin slice of swiss

slice the onion bagel in half and scoop some of the inside part of the bread out so its not as thick as a regular bagel but you still have the outer shell…(less calories, easier to eat, plus you can use the scooped out bread for croutouns).

toast the bagel to a golden brown

spread scallion cream cheese inside one side of the scooped bagel and tuck in slices of turkey

    - next add alfalfa sprouts, tomato, and the thin slice of swiss tucked into the other half of the bagel.

    - dill pickle on the side.
