You can click on the above links for more information and for directions.

1. Cipolla Rossa. It’s in Samseongdong by the Coex. It’s an Italian Trattoria. They make their own pasta and their other speciality seems to be steak. Signature dishes include Onion stuffed with Garlic Cheese and Sweet Cream Cranberry Pizza.
2. Lochef. It’s near Hwehwa. It looks like French Style Korean food on white tablecloth. You can get their PIX E Pasta if you want Fusilli in a fried Tortilla and Tortilla pizza on the side. (I’m being sarcastic. Would you want to eat that?)
3. Gazen. It’s near Gangnam Station. It’s got Japanese style food. Signature dishes include Okonomiyaki (10,400) and the Tuna and Avocado Maki Roll (8,400). I’ve actually been here and it’s not bad. http://www.gazen.co.kr
4. Agra. It’s in Itaewon under the Burger King. I have no respect for Menupan because they have put this awful restaurant on the list. The environment is stylish, but the food is overpriced and cheap. I ordered Palak Paneer- my favorite Indian Dish- and they put 2 pieces of paneer in the dish and tried to substitute potatoes in it’s place! Boo! But hey, maybe this is what you can get if you pay to advertise on Menupan.
5. Crazy Ocean. It’s in Mapo-gu near Hongdae or Hapjeong Station. It’s a seafood buffet.
6. Sodam Hanjeong-shik. It’s in Incheon and the only way you can get there is to take a special bus or drive. Their specialty dishes are hanjeong-shik and Korean food. Now this restaurant doesn’t make sense because it’s really far out of the way and yet it has made it’s way into the top 10. Most of the other restaurants are in high traffic areas.
7. Primo Bacio Baci. It’s in Hongdae and I’ve been to this place and it’s quite good. Their signature dishes are: cream pasta in a bread bowl (Pane-11,000) and Al Forno Manzo (Steak and Pasta 16,000.) They have a decent wine selection and it’s not over priced. I had a decent bottle of Rancho Zapato there for 30,000 won. This is a restaurant that deserves to be on the list.
8. The Crab House. It’s in Apgujeong and I’ve heard decent reviews about this place, but it’s not as good as the Singapore original. Their specialty is crab.
9. Buono Pasta. It’s near Hongdae’s front gate and they have pasta and western food.
10. Bouchon. It’s near Hongdae as well and it is a wine bar with Caprese salads, sausage and chicken, and other dishes in a stylish atmosphere.

So this is the second week of the Menupan top 10 list. Has there been many restaurant moves? NO! Menupan: FAIL. I was hoping to update their top ten on Seoul Eats every week, but it doesn’t look like they update it that often. Maybe I’ll give it a try in another week or so. Sorry for the let down folks, but apparently the Seoulites are still eating at the same restaurants from the week before.

1. Florence. It’s over by Ewha and it serves up heavily sauced faux Italian.
2. Hwa Ssi 167 Do. It’s in Gangnam Gu Cheong Exit 3 and they serve up Korean Food.
3. Lochef. Steak and Pasta over by Hwehwa station. They have fancy steaks and pasta on their menu. It doesn’t look half bad. It’s expensive, but…it looks good. Also
4. Cfood Kitchen. Seafood buffet. It looks like they’ve got a nice spread and for 19,000, it doesn’t seem bad. It is over by Doksan Station.
5. Sokbul 1978. Fancy Steak over by Myeongdong exit 3. They can dress up a minutes worth of steak to look like a million dollars…and you only have to pay W29,000 for the privilege.
6. Primo Bacio Baci. Ok. I’ve eaten here and it’s not bad for the price. The place always has a line and they have decent pizza, salads, and they don’t gauge out your eye on wine. It’s in Hongdae out exit 5.
7. Sao paulo. I don’t know how it sounds but it is a Brazilian Steak place over by Gyodae Station (Seoul National University of EDUCATION exit 14). It looks alright. I’d be willing to check it out.
8. Freshville. It’s got foreign food and steak. It’s over by Samseong Station exit 4. It looks like the serve up a lot of steak on the cheap. The interior has a very…X-mas feel to it. Feliz Navidad.
9. My Chai. It looks like a smiley face that’s really expensive to eat. Lots of yellow, fancy plating, and small portions. Yeah…let’s see. If you wanna give it a try head out to Gongteong Station exit 4.
10. The Crab House. I’d actually like to give this place a try. It’s over by Apgujeon Station Exit 4 and it looks like good seafood. You’ve got whole crabs done tempura and sauce. They also have pastas that start at 12,000. Not bad…so why is it at 10? Hmmmm….Don’t know.

Ok, so I think since we are living in Korea, we should figure out what the general population is eating in Seoul. Menupan is a top food site in Seoul and they have a daily top restaurants list. I often go to it and check out what Koreans are eating. I have decided to give you one of my secrets to figuring out how to find good restaurants in the city. Of course, these restaurants cater to Korean palates, so you might not find them all so appetizing, but it’s not a bad launching point. Oh, and Menupan has coupons. Don’t you love saving money?

You can check out menupan here:

You have to read Korean, but it’s worth it.

Here is the list translated for you if you are lazy:

So that’s the first post on what the Menupan thinks you should be eating. What do you think? Should I do this every week?
