Meet The Hidden Artist: Shin Hyun-hee

I had the great fortune to meet artist Shin Hyun-hee while I was working with her son on a collaboration project. The artist was kind enough to let us use her studio for an event but then I saw her art and was blown away. Her art is traditional yet modern with a playfulness that I find refreshing. She is obsessed with fish yet she doesn't know why. I am very happy to have interviewed her and to produce her first video. Check out her facebook page https://www.facebook.com/hyunhee.art

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners at 3 of Seoul's Best Traditional Markets

The Traditional Markets of Seoul This post is for superfoodies and those looking to spend the day immersed in the Korean Traditional Markets of Seoul.  With the right planning, you could hit all the markets in the same day to have breakfast, lunch, dinner with drinks, shopping, and snacks between the meals.   In this post I’m going to help you organize a full day Traditional Market Tour. Plus, these markets are all located north of the Han River so you could easily explore each of these markets without wasting a lot of time traveling. The famous markets we are going to look at today are Namdaemun Market, Tongin Market and Gwangjang Market. Korean Poboys at Bong Ja-ne in Dong-bu Ichon-dong

Bong Ja-ne (봉자네) is a pretty well known tent restaurant (Pojangmacha) in Ichon. The woman has been in the location for over 4 years but she had a street cart for 15 years. Here is her refrigerator full of fresh meats and seafood. She has regular Korean drinking food fare such as grilled eel, fish cake soup, sundubu, and fried oyster. One spoonful of hot soup goes great with soju. Here is a spicy salad side-dish. Here is some Hoyri-ju (Lee Hyori is the beautiful girl on the bottle.) My favorite are the fried oysters battered in egg. THere are a few pieces of battered pumpkin and peppers here as well. Good food and good friends make for a great meal. A little soju makes me crazy.^^ Here is the chef. 크게 보기 Here is a review in Korean. http://review.nate.com/view/8426033/desc/1
