Icardi 2003 Barbera D'Asti Italy Cav Pierino

I bought this wine from a place called Wine Route in Jamwon. It is right up exit 3? It's the exit that goes up to Kim's Club. It's a quaint little wine shop and from what I saw a good selection and reasonable prices.

This one was 19,000. I bought a nice pinot, but it's a 2005 so I'm going to sit on it for a year or so. 2009 is going to be a good year because I have a couple wonderful bottles that I've put in storage.

First of all...it's bouquet is strong. I'm getting oak and currants, tobacco, and a bit of...wet coffee grinds. I've been letting it air out for a while, about 3 minutes. It's a wine that needs to breath.

And now for the tasting.

I'm getting apricot. Tart apricot and tobacco. I am getting a bit of ripe blackberries that have been left out in the sun for a while- a slight raisin-ness. It's dry. A medium to high level of dryness. It's mouth feel is a bit burnt buttery.

Hmmm. It's starting to grow on me.

I'm going to give it an 86.
