Korean food event for New Yorkers and People from Los Angeles

Daniel Lee Gray
New Yorkers and Los Angeles'ers,

The Institute for Traditional Korean Foods
is having a food tasting for Americans on September 24th, at 4pm. This event is a publicity event to launch contemporary Korean cuisine. The Institute is over by the Sejong Center and they are looking for people specifically from NYC to taste the dishes and give their impressions on the dishes.

They are looking for 15 people from LA and 15 people from NYC to come eat lots of free Korean food and talk about it.

The one stipulation is that- since this will be filmed- they are looking for people that don't look ethnically Asian. I apologize for this, but don't kill the messenger.

If you are interested in participating please contact me at seouleats (at) gmail (dot) com

  1. they should "stage" the event with whites only for filming. when Koreans say non-Asians, they mean whites with blonde hair and blue eyes only. don't they realize that majority of NYC or LA residents are not white? I'm often get pissed by this kind of ignorant stupidity. nothing against the messenger though, just a thought.

  3. Hmph. But I do have a comment to the messenger: Dan, if you don't agree with the principle of them excluding Americans who look ethnically Asian, then why are you promoting this?

The Institute for Traditional Korean Foods has no interest in promoting Korean food to non-Koreans, only in cementing their already stagnant views of food & culture...

I just want to warn anyone who's planning on going, when I went to their last tasting for Hong Kong Chinese, they actually had us dress up in Chinese costumes for the media -- so... don't be surprised if y'all gotta don cowboy outfits! ^_^
