Daniel Lee Gray

This last week has been hectic with the new site relaunch and all that. I want to first thank everyone that stuck around and continued to read the site. One person that has offered to help is my good friend Chef Garrett from Tartine Pie and Brunch Cafe in Itaewon. First Entry?
    You CHEAP BASTARD!
    Why don't you buy me
    a CITY OF ROSES?!
    My heart decomposes
    At the endless proposes
    you throw at me.

When you took me to CHICAGO
(WINDY CITY) CHILI is how I felt
    in my pants,
As you tried to take a stance
    at the lack of romance
    that is in your pockets.

(This poem does not reflect the kind of person I am =P)

  2. On the Subway

Treading lightly on the shiny tiles we go
Just the two of us, making this wonderful underground trip
Sit down in the subway, mind already starts to wander
Bring up all the wonderful things on offer
At that little shop just around the corner
Perhaps we’ll have the Eggceptional Omelet this time
Finished off with a delightful pie of key lime
The size of that Andrew Jackson still haunts my mind.
The hiss of the doors brings me back to reality
Overshot our stop, such was my fantasy
Guess the food will have to wait a little while longer
To have the honour of sating my hunger

Cobalt blue skies over the City of roses

Sweet tobacco flows when aroma breezes

From the Fifi La Rue starts a melody

    Then two hearts melt!

    on an eternal balcony

    Fires of creations

    Rainbows of emotions

    Joys of dreams

    Rolling in the motions

    Simple breakfast at Tartine’s

    my Valentine,

    Can this be our routine?

Now this one is not so interesting. Only one menu item [chocolate] and maybe too short to get any kind of rhythm going and also too self promoting.

I know that to get through to you, my Valentine,
I must get a diamond for my Clementine
On this Chili Windy City day,
    Your turning Della Mae rosy
My cozy joy -- radiant, piercing, loving.

I understand you, frightful Andy Jackson,
    Oh how you flatter
    Maybe we get fatter

In the high rise Biscuit where you live,
Your opera of drippings and whippings
Boils my City of White Roses with sumptous oompah!
    ...(...To Tartines for my Clementine)

    I await you
    Like a city of roses
    Impatient and cold, like the
Chicago Windy City Chill is thrown against me

    Come to me,
I am not the cheap bastard
    You would have me be
But I am much more, more than you make me out to be

    Here you are
And I am blissful and rejoice
    Tartine you complete,
As does your eggceptional omelet breakfast

I have an Eggceptional girlfriend ,
Who is really hard to please,
I cooked her an Omelet Breakfast,
But was called a Cheap Bastard's piece.

At wit's end, I took her to Tartine,
    Which was highly recommended ,
After tasting the Fifi La Rue's and Andrew Jackson's,
    She was instantly enchanted.

How this Simple place turned to a City of Roses,
Still gives me a Windy Chilli blast,
But it definitely turned me from a Cheap Bastard,
To the Pancake of my girlfriend's heart...
