Here's the Whole Shebang Breakfast which comes with 3 eggs, 3 slices of bacon (proper crisp bacon), 3 sausages, extra beans, 2 hash brown patties, fried tomato, toast, and coffee or tea with a shot of Jameson Whisky. You get all that for only 12,800 won. It's big enough for 2 people (or 4 skinny Korean Girls)^^.If you have a breakfast recommendation, please let me know.

(The Wolfhound is a sponsor of Seoul Eats, but this is my own opinion. I've been a fan of the Wolfhound before they became a sponsor.)
There is a lack of real hearty breakfast places in Seoul. The RMT (Rocky Mountain Tavern) used to do a good trucker's breakfast a while back, but I don't know if they still do. Western Breakfast in Korea has become a sugar bomb of puffed up, overpriced, fluff. Breakfast is supposed to be cheap, hearty, and comforting. I feel that many places have missed the boat on that. Well, the Wolfhound seems to share my ideals for their prices are reasonable and the portions sizable.
I know I didn't post this before, but this is a picture during the Superbowl 2010. The Wolfhound was absolutely packed and everyone was enjoying breakfast. Well, not everyone. some people were enjoying a beer and a shot. I had a coffee with a shot of Jameson.
I think that the Wolfhound should have breakfast every morning. I think that's something that Seoul is sorely lacking.
Cheers to this guy^^
Here is the meal. The shot in the background is the Veggie Breakfast. It comes with 2 eggs, hash browns, fried tomato, beans and toast. It's a proper British style breakfast for only 6,500 won. Oh, wait, it's lacking sausage. You can get get the All day breakfast with a coffee, bacon and sausage for 9,800 won.

All American Diner in Itaewon has a nice breakfast, although it certainly lacks in the "hearty" department as it is more Denny's than greasy spoon.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to find a dive, but I imagine the market isn't there.
Have you had the omlets at Spoon Race in Edae? They come with a brown bread roll and salad, so they're not very greasy spoon, but they are delicious, cheesy, real omlets. I think they have American breakfast, too? I've never gotten that. I always get the potato omlet.

Brandon, All American Diner is meh in my opinion. Sara, I'll have to check out the Spoon Race- sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI've only been to a few places to have breakfast (been to Wolfhound once, but had the burger). My favorite has to be the french toast at Butterfinger, made with brioche. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteButterfinger Pancakes all the way. I made a post about it recently in my blog too.
ReplyDeleteDaniel, that's why I tabbed it as "nice", a "good-not-great" adjective. I forget the name of what I had, but it came with pancakes, bacon, two types of sausages, eggs, and toast. Nothing blew me away and the meat portion was small, but I walked away satisfied.
ReplyDeleteAgain, it's no greasy spoon, but it's a nice breakfast out.
The Flying Pan in Itaewon has one of the best breakfasts I've had in my life. Portions are big and delicious and even the coffee is good. Warning - I had and pancakes with bananas and walnuts in the morning and did not eat again until about 10pm.
ReplyDeleteDear Jenn,
ReplyDeleteI think quality at flying pan has gone down. The last time I was there I got cold pancakes and runny eggs. I'll give them another try, but if it's bad next time, I'm done.
