Shots Post Rapture of the HBC Music Festival

HBC Music Festival Suffice it to say, everyone survived the rapture. If it had occurred I don't think anyone would have noticed at the the HBC Music Festival. It was a great night with lots of food, cops, and alcohol. I got my brews at the Pinoy Mart and they had noodles and spring rolls for sale. I tried to go to Casablancas, but they were completely sold out. It was a fun night with lots of crazy, happy weigukin. Cheers, Dan The Local Look Mom, no hands! Superman!

Vinyl, Twice Born Chicken, and Club FF

Nightlife in Korea is exciting and the best place for nightlife is in Hongdae. Whenever I have guests visit me, I take them out to the back side of Hongik University (Walk down from Sangsu Station Exit 2). Here you can find great bars, clubs, and ramen shops . Let's help out a Man and his Wife for a date

I recieved this e-mail today and I wanted to throw this out to you all, we can help this guy out. Here is his question: Hey Dan, Do you know of any cool spots to eat and/or listen to music at the Haeywa or Nowon stations? I'm trying to pull together a date night with my wife on Wednesday. Thanks man,   L. My answer was: Dude! you're married! Wow.... that's cool. Hyewha maybe, but that's more of a theatre district, but I don't know of any clubs. Nowon is pretty commercialized now and I don't know of any there. The place for music is in Hongdae. I really like Club Evans, but I don't know if they'll have music on Wednesday. I'll ask around and get back to you. Dan So...I'm asking you. Any questions? Feel free to e-mail your foodie tips, suggestions, and questions. I'll try to get to them as soon as possible. Here's my e-mail. Dan

Seoul Jazz Festival 2009

Do you know this boy? He is Sungha Jung and he is a major talent on the guitar. The festival was amazing, but not really a jazz concert at all. Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova, and the Frames don't really play jazz- they just play good music. The one sad thing was that this was basically an exact repeat of the same concert they gave 5 months ago. I mean the even had MATE- a Korean cover band play again. I will admit that the addition of Sungha Jung was cool, but I was hoping to hear some new music or old music. Dan Here's Sungha Jung

Concerts of Korean music this week "There is a sitar concert near Shillim Station Line No. 2 this Friday around 6:30ish. It's 50,000 won and includes chai, other drinks and snack. It features famous Indian players with accompaniment of a Korean drummer, too. It looks like a really nice concert, but I have a really important Gayageum concert to go.:) Hope some of you get to go and spread the words! The number to contact for ticket is 010 4624 3144. Ciao"
