Hi, I’m Daniel Gray. I’m a Korean-American storyteller, tour guide, and food expert who’s passionate about sharing Korea’s rich culture with the world. Over the years, I’ve hosted travelers, curated immersive tours, and appeared on shows like Netflix’s Street Food: Asia – Seoul. My goal is simple: to help you connect deeply with Korea through meaningful experiences, delicious food, and unforgettable stories.
Last time I went into curry town was late on a saturday night, after the last diners had gone to see if I could have a quick take out curry as I was in a rush. While I waited for the nan, they did not allow me to eat any of the buffet and gave me the meekly named 'punjabi' curry for which they charged me the full whack buffet price. I know this wasn't much, but I found their attitude rude in the extreme seeing as the food had been sat out all night and was ready for the bin anyhow. To add insult to injury, the curry was absolutely disgusting and I ended up throwing it away and just eating the nan. From then on, I have found the beautiful and friendly Moghul restaurant just along the alley by far the best value buffet in town.
I went for brunch this Saturday, and quite enjoyed their buffet. We got there around noontime, and everything was set up and ready. The host was attentive, but not hovering, and the food...well let's just say I almost had to roll myself out of there! Thanks for the suggestion!
Been to five buffets so far. Ashoka, Foreign Restaurant, Maharaja, Chakra and Curry Town. Curry Town and Chakra were the most impressing. Only down side of CT was that the rice was quite awful. It was hard. Should have been cooked more. I love the lentil salad and it has great tandooris.
Tried this place after a friend's recommendation, and I think it was the worst Indian food I've ever eaten in Korea. The curries were bland and the portions were tiny. I should have just gone to Everest in Dongdaemun - it really is the best in Seoul.
Dan... if you're talking about a Korean baby here, isn't that an awfully small samosa? ;)
ReplyDeleteGood article. Too bad you have to have a password to post on Seoul's tourism page! LOL!
ReplyDeleteTamar, you can enter anything you'd like for the password for example, 1234, abcd, food, etc. It's not a real password. Only a fake^^
