Oh Korea, How funny you can be^^

Here are some random, funny pics of Korea. Booby Band Notice that they spelled it right on the logo, but not on the cover. Pak Ji-sun Kimbap! Hmmm...If he and Kim Yuna got married, they could buy Korea with all the endorsement money they recieve. It's a paradox! It's a cool Melon bread that I found in the fridge that is also hot!

The bibimbap ad in the New York Times is embarassing

Here is the text: How about bibimbap for lunch today? Bibimbap is a dish mixed of cooked rice with various vegetables, beef, garnishes, and fried pepper paste. It is said that this dish came from the customers of memorial service and rural villages. This dish is very convenient to provide, just mixing of cooked rice with various vegetables, namul, and red pepper paste together. I assume this was written by Seo Kyoung-duk - an honorary professor at Sungshin Women's University. The title is ok. It grabs your attention and so does the picture. However, I'm not sure if the text matches the picture because there is raw beef and a raw egg. (I guess the egg is the "garnishes".) Here are my problems with the text: I have a major issue with the following line, "It is said that this dish came from the customers of memorial service and rural villages." Customers at a funeral? What are they buying? Oh, and death does evoke pleasant feelings, nor does...

Foodcoma911 takes on Korean waffles

There is a new food blogger in town and her first foray into the Korean food wilderness is the Korean waffle. You follow her adventures at www.foodcoma911.blogspot.com Koreans love their waffles~ I never thought I would be a huge waffle fan. The "korean standard" for doing waffles here is just putting some cream on it. I need a little more something, something, ya know? So, one of my Korean friends found out that I love to sometimes indulge in one of my food philosophies of the BIGGER, the BETTER! See gave me an AMEN on that, and then recommended THE GIANT ALLIGATOR My eyes just lit up! What is The Giant Alligator?!!?! It's basically a big plate filled with waffles served with several different kinds of ice cream and toppings on the side. I guess in some abstract way it's shaped like an alligator's back. If normal Korean girls were going to eat this dish, then you would need about 6 of them to finish this plate. But being me, I just needed two other...

Oh, Korea.

I was on the bus to Hakdong station today and I was reminded of how alike we all are.  Even though I live on the opposite side of the world from many of my friends and family, people still communicate in similar ways. At 1030 AM the roads of Seoul are a twisted, tangle of fueled steel. The bus I was on was packed, but luckily I was able to get a seat near the front. In Seoul the bus lanes are in the middle of the road. They have a island where people can catch the buses. As strange as it sounds, it's very effective and makes traffic move faster and it helps pedestrians on the street. As our bus was stopped at the traffic light in the middle lane, 3 people ran across 6 lanes of highway and NOT at a pedestrian crosswalk. They were 3 older potbellied men, and one of them got his foot stuck on a chain that separated the lanes. Bus driver started to honk at the men, and started to honk more when the light changed. The man who had his leg stuck didn't panic. In fact he slo...
