In my writing class the students were supposed to brainstorm about disturbing trends in Korea and I said that Black Bean Tea was a disturbing trend. Then I went on to expound on the ghastliness of corn tea (it tastes like soggy popcorn!) and that this will lead Korea to make teas from everything: from flower teas, bundaeggi tea, water tea, book-tea, and even pen-tea. The last one was a mistake. My class exploded with laughter and I was left red faced.

Hi! I'm quite a fan of your blog-- it is hands down the best site for seoul foodies such as myself =) I was wondering if you knew of any patisseries in Seoul (that sell french-style macaroons)? There's also "Life is just a cup of cake" (http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthewskorea/2458588589/) in Itaewon. Just head down from Itaewon station past Hard Rock Cafe, past Kraze burger, past the Itaewon Hotel and Kabinett, past La Volpaia and about another 50 metres down the road on the left hand side, sort of tucked away in a side street is this very cute little cupcake shop. Freshly made, beautifully decorated and hideously expensive (4,500 for a cupcake if I remember correctly)...

ReplyDeleteAmy, I was kidding about the bundaeggi tea^^ But, CORN TEA! Corn belongs on the cob. Corn can be popped. Corn belongs in tortillas. Corn does not belong in tea or on pizza or in ice cream.
