Aliens Deliver Vegan Treats to Your Door!

Alien's Day Out  Who doesn't like homemade cookies and cakes delivered to your door? (If this applies to you, please stop reading my blog and go away). These days, I have been thinking of gifts to get friends and a big hit have been Mipa's Vegan Cakes and Cookies from Alien's Bake Shop . I have ordered twice for my vegan friends and I would happily do it for my omnivore friends as well. Everything is fresh baked, creative and delicious.

Calling all Vegetable-barbarians...I mean Vegetarians (or Vegans)

Hiya Vegetarians and Vegans, I recently got an e-mail from an Ethnographer that is passing through Korea and they would like to do a study of vegetarian lifestyles in Asia. She'll be here for two weeks doing research and eating some vegetarian food. Here is the information she sent me and the requirements of the type of people she would like to interview. Her contact information is below as well. Cheers, Dan Hello. My name is Rebecca Allen and I’m an ethnographer based in Yokohama, Japan. I am currently conducting an ethnographic study on vegetarian lifestyles in Asia and will be in Seoul for two weeks starting this Friday, during which time I am hoping to learn a bit about Korean vegetarian food.

Dear Seoul Eats Readers, Thank you so much for sending me messages and questions and comments. They really make my day and I feel honored that you take the time to read my blog. I'm a social person, so I've used this blog as a platform for interacting with people. The theme this week seems to be: "Where can I go Eat?" I've had several people approach me about vegetarian cuisine in Seoul. Now before I start, feel free to contact me with your restaurant recommendations, tips, and questions about Korea. I'll try to answer them as soon as possible. My e-mail is seouleats at gmail dot com Hello Daniel, I read your blog and am a big fan. Around the K-Food Blogosphere: Get your eat on

Foodcoma911 has left Korea ㅠㅠ but she got to do it in style by traveling on Korea Air's Business Class flight. Damn does that chair look comfortable. The food...she said the dinner was alright, but the breakfast was just so, so. Apparently in Business Class dinner includes cheese and haagen daaz icecream. AZA.  Via Foodcoma911   Vegetarian in Korea has announced that this week is vegan week. She's starting out by making a Vegan Vietnamese Sandwich with marinated tofu and veggies.  Via Vegetarian in Korea 10 Magazine has a review of Spain Club, a very expensive restaurant in Garosugil.  Via 10 Magazine Seoulfoodyo is getting Green Onion Chicken from Ne Ne Chicken delivered to his house. He says it ain't bad and the onions definitely made the chicken better. Is Ne Ne the best? I think I have to stick with Pelicana. Via Seoulfoodyo   Zenkimchi has a review of a Korean Cook Book from 1959. Interesting proverb on this page. I'm not sure if it r...

A Chocolate Adventure: Where to Buy Chocolate in Seoul

Chocolate from Passion 5 Written and Photographed by Chalica Pack www.vegetarianinkorea.com Chocolates with nuts, chocolates with crème, chocolates shaped like flowers, chocolates filled with organic dried fruits- whatever your fancy you will find it in Seoul. You might not know it, but Seoul is filled to the brim with chocolate shops. They are scattered in nearly every neighborhood from Itaewon to Apgujeong. There are cozy little shops to enjoy a mocha and truffle while reading a book, chic urban places that offer sandwiches and spirits, and places that are so high end your camera will not be welcomed. Here is a list of my chocolate finds just in time for Valentines Day. Just one word of warning: On February 14th and April 14th most of these shops will sell out of everything so be sure to get there early or you will regret it. il Cacao Chocolate Castle As I write up this article, I am enjoying a fabulous chocolate covered truffle brownie from Chocolate Castle near Gyeongbok...

Vegetarian in Korea Presents: In-depth with Munir Rana Owner of Alsaba Restaurant

In depth with Munir Rana: Owner of Alsaba Restaurant and Saba carpet store Written and Photographed by Chalica Pack www.vegetarianinkorea.com One cold night last March my friends and I ended up dining at Alsaba. It wasnt planned, we had tried to find Petra, but since I was new to Seoul, and clearly directionally challenged, we got too cold wandering around and decided to try the Indian/Pakistani place with the big green sign. We were blown away by the food.  The food at Alsaba is fantastic. The chana dal is my favorite vegetarian dish, but everything I have eaten there is great. As I have mentioned in past reviews, ambiance is everything to me. The decor (Which I found out later that the owner,  Munir Rana, picked out himself.) is filled with elements of beauty from around the world. Having studied the history and cultures, Munir wanted his restaurant to show how different civilizations have blended together. Fabrics in his dining room might hail from Pakistan, whi...

Vegetarian in Korea presents: Sobahn Cafe, Berlin, and Petra's

Vegetarian in Korea is a great blog written by Chalica Pack. She is a regular contributor to Groove Magazine and someone I enjoy dining with. These are the articles that appeared in this month's Groove magazine. Check out her blog at www.vegetarianinkorea.com  for pictures of the restaurants. Dan Vegetarian Friendly Restaurants in Seoul Written and Photographed by Chalica Pack This article comes courtesy of Groove Magazine in Seoul Finding vegetarian friendly restaurants in Seoul can be a bit challenging if you don't know where to look. Let me try to point you in the right direction with three of my finds to get you started. Sobahn Cafe Cafe Sobahn is owned by one of  Korean's largest food companies (CJ Foodville) but when you step inside, you feel like you are in a down to earth, back to basics eatery. Part of that feel comes from the greenhouse that greets you when you walk in-they grow many of the sprouts they use on their dishes. The greenhouse shows ho...
