Ola!2

Daniel Lee Gray

Decent steaks outside of Suji in Bundang. There is a lake that has many restaurants surrounding it. We went there for my friend's birthday. There are two Olas there: Ola and Ola 2. The steaks were not top grade, but there was a lot of it. The mash potatoes and the bread that came with it were awesome.

The wine was a 1998 Chateau Lassegue, and it was a soft bodied velvety wine with hints of tart strawberry and currants. It was quite outstanding and not an awful deal at 70,000 a bottle.

  1. Looks good. I like the food reviews, Im always trying to figure out where to go out when Im in Seoul. Just a suggestion though, it would be real helpful if you put the phone number of the restaurants on your posts? Its hard to locate or find the restauarants without a phone number.

Also, have you ever eaten at N' Grill on top of N. Seoul Tower? I ate there my last trip. Unbelievable. Excellent food, but it was by far the most expensive place I ate at in Korea. I want to say 80,000-120,000/person. My friend and I both had a "surf and turf" lobster with a special steak (forgot what its called but japanese beef that was raised in Australia). We also had a Californian wine (ironic traveling to Korea and drinking Californian) called Wente. The entire thing was excellent.

  2. I usually put phone numbers, but I really didn't think this one was all that great so I didn't bother. I haven't been to N'Grill. I go for more exotic fare such as sushi or blowfish. Wente is a low/mid range wine. I hope you didn't pay more than 40. Next time you come, you should bring your own bottles.

  3. So now I'll know which ones you really liked based on whether or not they have phone numbers :).

Im not a wine drinker. Personally I don't even like wine. The problem is they dont taste like grape juice! Something that is perhaps 60% volume pressed from grapes really should taste like grape juice! So that shows the extent of my wine knowledge. Anyways, on price, I'll give you a good rule of thumb. Usually as the elevation of the restaurant increases, so does the price of food and wine. Being that N'Grill is the highest restauarant in Seoul, you can only imagine how much I paid...lol
