Decent Burger for 8,500 won at Triple B

Had a decent burger at triple b in Yeonnamdong. Pretty tasty but the burger was a knife and fork deal since it fell apart too quickly. Good bun that was toasted and was fresh baked by a local baker down the street. The toppings were decent as well: tomato, sautéed onions, secret sauce that was like a Russian dressing and melted cheese. We also got the guacamole which was tasty but it could have used a bit more tartness. The place is tiny but service was prompt and friendly. For the price, I would totally recommend it. My burger was 8,500 won and the guacamole was 9,000. They have hand and malt and ark beer on tap. Go check it out!   Triple B.  Mapo-gu Yeonhui-ro 1gil 23  마포구 연희로 1길 23  It's across from Pencil Guest House.

Burgers at Maloney's in Gyeonidan

Mini Slider's at Maloney's Pub The burgers at Maloney's pub are simply classic pub fare. The atmosphere has all the fixtures of an Irish bar (without a belligerent yet friendly Irishman). They have Guiness and Erdinger Beer on draft as well as bottles of good Rogue Stout. It seems to be a local handout because I saw quite a few regulars both times that I went. The burgers are a bit grissly but they are moist and flavorful. The first time I went I got the mini sliders. These were good and actually quite filling. They reminded me a bit of White Castle Burgers because the bun is toasted.  And at 10,000 won with fries, it was pretty good value. The second time I went I got the Mushroom and Swiss Cheeseburger. Also, very good. The bun was toasted and the mushrooms were sauteed and there was real, melted swiss cheese on the burger.  The one thing I think they could improve are the fries. I mean they aren't crispy. The pub uses real potatoes to make them and...

This is why I am Fat: Burgers, Lamb, and Beer and Popcorn

Beer and Popcorn at CGV This is going to be a quick post since I am about to go out for a run before I head out to work. These days, I am trying to lose weight, although I do lapse back into eating some things I shouldn't. The problem is that in Korea there is so much to eat (that's good and it's too easily accessible.) For example, I was headed to to CGV movie theater with a friend to watch Captain America and they were advertising a beer and popcorn set for only 10,000 won. This set included two beers and a tub of popcorn. Of course, we had to get it since we were about to watch Captain America. Then there is my other little addiction in the HBC (Haebangchon): Casablanca Sandwicherie. Damn it, their Lamb Chili Sandwich is off the hook and it is the perfect drunk food. I've been trying to ween myself off these, but I think I went in for two last week. It's so good because the bread is plush, the ground lamb is flavorful and the additions of chickpeas, l...

N-Tower has a New Burger/ Milkshake Shop

I think that finally, someone got the entire concept right. Sure, it is a copy of every cool, burger shop that has ever been, but you shouldn't have to reinvent the wheel to make a decent burger. These gourmet burgers are like Taylor's Automatic Refresher s and In-and-Out Burgers . The burgers are made fresh everyday and so are the buns- which you can easily in their open kitchen. The meat looks fresh and well ground. It is well charred- medium well and the buns are nice and toasty. Is it the best in Seoul as like the title? It's not bad- I really like how homemade it is. They do use quality ingredients (well most of them, if they were truly following the philosophy of "homemade" they might make their own sauces and use organic veggies. They could also be a bit more environmentally conscious by using plates and such instead of paper.) For the price- you can get a burger for about 6,000 won. With fries and a shake you have a complete, classic American meal (scary...

Letters to Seoul Eats: I found a Great Burger in Seoul at Burger Tex

This is not a burger from Burger Tex, but from Rookies in Seoul When I get an impassioned letter from a reader, I have to take notice. Here is a letter from 金在龍 about a burger joint in Sinchon called Burger Tex. I hope the place hasn't closed yet. Sincerely, Dan Hello There. I'm a New Yorker here in Seoul.  And I've found a burger shop here I think you should know about. I've spent a few years working with some of the top chefs in NYC.  over 6 years of living in seoul, and after searching high and low for the 'best burger' myself, i came across your top 10 list. If you've ever been to Corner Bistro in the West Village in NY, that's pretty much what i'd consider a 'perfect' burger.  no surprises, just a sizable portion of perfectly grilled beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and whatever condiments i feel in the mood for. no bullshit. As in NY, my experience in Seoul, is that everyone has their own take on what a 'good...
