No-Frills Mexican Food Sans Sky-high Prices

Pros: Super reasonable prices, tasty tacos, and weekly specials. Easy transition from dinner to drinks night. (Well, it is Korea.) Cons: Cave-like decor harkens to its (probable) past as a hof and doesn’t lend much to style or theme. Seoulites might be wary of non-Korean food made outside the trendy capital, but its little brother to the west is proving itself just as ready to be food-forward. For expats and locals alike, Incheon’s Taco Cielo may as well be heaven sent. Situated in the Arts Center area of Guwol-dong, Taco Cielo opened fittingly on May 5th with a menu serving general Mexican food. Taking the elevator up and stepping into the dimly-lit restaurant, I took a breath of relief. It was nice not to see sombreros and other kitschy knick-knacks that seem to plague Mexican-themed restaurants in Korea (and worldwide, for that matter). However, black dominates the scene and some of the booths are located under isolating, cave-like arches. The place is obviously the former home of a...

Incheon Hyatt Regency Summertime Barbecue

Hyatt Regency Summertime Barbecue The last LTB ( Les Toques Blanc, Korea's International Chef's Association ) was at the Incheon Hyatt Regency Hotel at Incheon. It was a famous meeting with amazing food. We had a tasting of their summertime garden barbecue. It was a variety of barbecued ribs, salmon, steaks, chicken and much more. There was also a smoker that made some smoked sea bass. They also had an assortment of sauces such as demi-glaces, mustards, salsas, and gravies to dress your meat. Inside they had salads and cheeses (I totally pigged out on all their cheeses). The most interesting plate they had has the smoked shark meat. I can't say my favorite, but it was there. The barbecue is totally worth the drive to Incheon, or if you are on a layover, I suggest you check it out. So what can they do? Well, I decided to do some research and ask around and here's what I found. Of course, you would probably want to leave the city and I think Incheon is the best place to go. There are several local city buses and tour buses that'll take you right into the city. Here's the info on Incheon Local Buses. Incheon is a port city and it is known for having many excellent Chinese Seafood Restaurants. Jung-gu is the only official Chinatown in Korea and has some excellent Chinese restaurants. You should also check out Jayu Park with a statue of General Douglas MacArthur. There is also the Korean-American Centennial Monument. Now what should you eat? Here are some recommendations: Hweogweoddawang 1.Hweogweoddawang: Hweogweo is a Chinese sinseollo (royal co...
