Is there a reason that half your recommendations for a tourist to Korea are non-Korean foods? I mean, how many people asking for advice on where they should eat on their vacation here are really looking for doner kebab?
ReplyDeleteOh yum! I should know better than to have read this post right before lunch….somehow my tinned soup is not seeming so delicious anymore! :)
ReplyDeleteThe paella looks especially yummy!
Dear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThe reason why half the recommendations are western places is because there is a large group of tourists that search for them in Seoul. I know because my google analytics always pull them up as top searches from outside of Korea.
Many of my Korean recommended restaurants are paid publications and I don't have the rights to publish them on the blog. You can often find them in books recommended by KTO, Seoul Magazine, and different print publications in Seoul.
Business plan...tinned soup! Hmmm...I think you should come to Korea. We have real soup.
Cheers,
Dan
This list was based on traveller feedback, not my personal opinion. It's also worth noting that we classify Mexico as being part of North America, not Central America (although it is Latin American, as you point out). Finally, we believe that El Salvador has many drawcards outside the capital.
ReplyDeleteIf a restaurant looks dodgy and serves Korean food you will have a great meal. But if a restaurant looks dodgy and serves western food you will regret it.
ReplyDeleteHi Dan
ReplyDeleteI am looking for a delicious ori hunjae restaurant. I loved one that I went to in Ulsan that served the smoked then grilled in front of you duck with pickled peppers and the old washed kimchi to wrap it in, something like that would be great or even a standard duck barbeque with lettuce wraps. Any info would be great.
Thanks!
