Today's lesson is still on Happy Birthday and honestly, I think my kids are on the verge of burnout from all this Happy Birthday stuff. It's been Julie's Birthday for 3 weeks now.

This story is for James Jr. my piano virtuoso student.

The __________Family lives in__________. There is Mother______, Father_______, Grandma and Grandpa_________and their son___________ and daughter_________. They all love each other very much and they never fight.

You might think this is strange, but the ________family lives in a giant mushroom. Don't worry, it's a big mushroom and the walls are strong and there is a big fireplace so everyone stays warm.

Today it is snowing outside so the _________family stayed inside their warm, nice, mushroom house.

Grandma ________decided to make bibimbap for her family. It's a very special bibimbap because it is made with apples, lollipops, chocolate, sausage and seol sa yak. I know it sounds strange but everyone in the _________family likes it.

They aren't the only ones to like it.

Outside Ojingo and Domingo were walking in the snow when they smelled Grandma _________special bibimbap.

Ojingo said, "I smell something yummy."
Domingo said, "Bubble, Bubble, Bubble." Because he had not learned how to speak English like Ojingo.

Ojingo said, "I smell grandmummy's bibimbap, chummy."
Domino asked, "Bubble, bubble, bub, bub?"

Ojingo said, "Sneaky, Sneaky, we will stealy."
Domingo laughed, "Bubbub bub, bubbub bub!"

Everyone in the mushroom house sat around the kitchen table so hungry for the bibimbap grandma made.

Their son ________ said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a bee."

Father_________said, "I'm so hungry I could eat George V."
Mother ________said, "I'm so hungry I could eat three keys."

For my English Class next week, I would really like to play the game MASH. I remember that I always enjoyed playing this game as a child and I think my Korean students will get a kick out of it. I might be able to do this a couple of times. I'm going to target this game at my 5th and 6th Grade classes, but I think my 4th Graders would enjoy it also.

Mkay, I will explain how to play MASH. First, get out a piece of paper. Write M.A.S.H at the top of the paper. (Mansion, Apartment, Shack, House) and pretend you have a friend with you because this is just practice so you get the hang of it. Make 6 columns with 5 lines in each and title the first column Girl/boy, title the 2nd column cars, 3rd is colors, 4th is job, 5th is number of kids, and 6th column is State. You must pick 5 girls/boys, cars, etc. At the top of the page your friend will keep drawing straight lines until you say "STOP!" and then when you do say stop, your friend will count the number of lines. (Hint: it's best not to have so many lines!) Lets say you have 8 lines. Your friend will keep going down the list and every 8th thing she comes to (car/house/etc) she will cross out the kind of car/house/etc you put there then she will keep going until you have one choice let out of the five. Once you're left with one choice under each of the categories you will say

"I live in a (M/A/S/H) with my husband/wife insertnamehere
who is a typeofjobhere
and we drive a *color* carname
with our #ofkids in statename"

Apparently the dude from WHiTE is coming to our school today to review my teaching and stuff. I found out at 8:45 this morning. Thanks for the warning. AND of course it has to be with 3rd Jang Mi which is the most hyperactive class in this joint.

Today's Lesson.

1. Start with Happy Birthday Song. Everyone will sing the song and we'll pretend it's someone's Birthday. I'll have a lighter so we pretend it's someone's Birthday.
2. Book. Look and Listen 2 Page 30 and 31.
3. Go over presents using the overhead projector.
4. Play smack game. For my birthday I got...

5. Review.

I'm doing a search for new games to play in the classroom. Here's some ideas I found so far:

YES NO BALL GAME

SUMMARY

One ball is a "yes" ball. One ball is a "no" ball. Students are asked yes/no type questions ("Can elephants fly? Is a banana yellow?") and then the teacher throws both balls. The children race to pick up the appropriate ball.

SET–UP

You need two different colored balls. Demonstrate that one ball is a "yes" ball, and the other a "no" ball. Make sure the students have a clear space in which to chase after the balls.

PLAY

Call two students to the front. Ask a yes/no type question. For example, "Are elephants little?" Throw the two balls. The two students should chase after the "no" ball, since elephants are not little. The first student to pick up the ball and bring it back to you is the winner.

Repeat with other students. Ask other yes/no type questions. You may play this game simply for listening practice or for listening/speaking practice (in which case the students must answer the yes/no type question out loud).

USES

1. Wonderful for testing listening comprehension in a fun way.
2. For teaching or reviewing yes/no type questions: "Can you eat a house? Is it hot today? It is Monday today? Is a mouse bigger than a rhino? Does an elephant like peanuts?"

Great picture, however it looks like you're going to stab the dog with a knife.

Warm-up
1) Start by asking about the weather and the date.
2) Ask: If I found $100.00 on the street, I would....

4) Cut out cards from the back of the book and then play snatch game between 2 teams.

It's an umbrella and I'm not that popular.

I want to start with a fun song, how about Row, Row, Row Your Boat.
I'll do it as a round. If the class seems to go stagnant, I'll do that.

1) Daniel Says, Do what I tell you to do like Simon says. Get a student to be the leader next.
2) Book. Work on "Can You help me?" Pretend to need help with various activities and get the students to help.
3) Game. Snatch game. Put different situation cards on the board and then describe them and the first person to put their hands on the item will get a point.

It's an umbrella and I'm not that popular.

Right now. I'm brainstorming the idea of doing a slide show and then getting them to do cartoony caricatures of each other and then getting them to guess who it is in the class. A caricature of George Bush comes to mind when I think of how to explain it. I should show them a picture of Bush and then a cartoon of him.

The only problem I have is that this could turn into strong kids picking on the meek or those that are not as physically fit as the norm. However, I think they'll make fun of me more than anyone else. That's a good idea. I'll use a picture that a kid does of me to start. I'll take the picture and walk around with it and get them to describe the person in the picture.

The question is, am I strong enough to handle the abuse?

Of course I am.

1. Review the vocabulary from the dictionary on the CD-Rom.
2. Activity. Draw a funny picture of someone in the class. Use examples of George Bush and other people to explain.
3. Show each other the drawings and ask the kids tell me about his nose, hair, etc. Ask them to guess who the picture is of.
4. Game: Do the CD rom game on the computer. After? Flash Hangman

 

1: Start with a review of numbers. Count to 20 and then in reverse. Teach them and sing 15 cans of coke.
2: Role Play.
3: Let's review.
4: If there is time, review the letters Q,U,V,X,Y,Z on the board and then alphabet race Q-Z 

 

1) Discuss Chapter 1 of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. See what he thought of it and see if I'm going to continue giving him that book for homework.

2) Discuss From Crimson to Green and discuss the importance of the enviroment.

3) Discuss the last week's article about China.

4) Homework. Listen to Rich Dad Poor Dad Chapter 2. Read another article from the Economist. Underline and look up words you don't know in the dictionary. Call me on Thursday after 9:15 to discuss any current event for 5 minutes.

I don't think Helio will be able to compete in the American Market. There is not enough hype building for the phone nor the service and Americans are simply cheap. Personally, I don't think that $250 or $275 is too expensive for a phone but then tack on the $85 dollar monthly plan for phonecalls and it is simply too much for Americans.

In Korea I have a Samsung phone that does everything that the Helio does and more. I have a dictionary, mp3 player, video player, camera, etc and my phone bill comes to maybe $35.00 a month.

Earthlink and SK are failing to market the phone correctly. They need to emphascize that this phone is an iPod replacement. For less than the price of an ipod they can get a phone. They should also offer simply phone plans without the Myspace feature. THEY must bring the prices down.

I'm up on GOOG is below $400.00 Apple is at 72 Ebay is at 35-I am waiting for it to hit 40 and I'm going to dump it. I am going to focus on Oil and water stocks in the future. I'm staying away from biotech. RUTH is starting to show, GG is my kickass stock.
